Initial Specific work permit (LMIA)

Hello,

I am a student and i want to get sponsor from employer (LMIA/PNp). Can i apply for work permit from now while holding a study permit? But i will use that work permit to work after i graduate.

Your potential employer is the one that applies for the LMIA. You don't.

If someone agrees to hire you (based on your prior experience, for example), and gets a positive LMIA, then yes, you can apply for a closed work permit on the basis of that LMIA.

Thanks for replying. I really appreciate it. But do you know how early i can apply for closed work permit while still holding study permit? Do you think i can apply at least 3 months before the completion of school? Because my study permit expires 12 days after completion of school so i want to apply asap. Thanks again

Your study permit has nothing to with it. You can apply as soon as you have a positive LMIA. If you don't have an LMIA, you can't apply.

Getting an LMIA is not easy.

You need to post the offer letter but generally these house manager jobs have been fake job offers.

Your study permit has nothing to with it. You can apply as soon as you have a positive LMIA. If you don't have an LMIA, you can't apply.

2. Yes, if your study permit is valid, you can apply from inside Canada. You can also apply while you have a PGWP, so if your study permit expires, make sure you apply for a PGWP. If your study permit expires and you don't have a PGWP, you can still apply while you are physically in Canada (as long as you are in valid status - visitor, for example), but your application will be treated as outside Canada.
