Hey Guys

I have like a million questions. Ill start with few. I am getting married in December9( Wohoooooo!!!) . My fiance is back home in India and I am currently on a LMIA based work permit, which is valid till July 2017. I have applied for PR and hoping to hear something before i get married.

What are the options for my spouse to come here right after our marriage along with me. Does anyone have experience with this? Some guidance will be really appreciated.

THanks

if you get married before you are approved and/or land as a pr on your current application, you MUST contact CIC and add your new spouse to your current PR application. Not doing so will exclude you from ever being able to sponsor your spouse as a pr.

Here's the most important tip that I can offer:

If you get married before you actually land as a PR, you must add your wife to your PR application. If you fail to do this, you will never be able to sponsor her.

Here is the exact info. My PR application is under process( FSW) , its been a month since i applied for it. I am currently on a LMIA based work permit which is valid till July 2017. I am getting married in December. So how can i go about this, in case i dont get my PR till the time i get married or what are the other ways to do it

once you get married and have your marriage certificate, you can send a case specific inquiry to CIC, attach a scanned copy of your marriage certificate, and request your new spouse be added to the application. they will most likely request some additional papers to be filled out and a copy of her passport. again, if you don't do this before you land as a pr on your current application, you will never be able to sponsor her in the future.

Thanks for the info

Another question, if i dont get my PR by then and add her to my current application. Can she apply for a visitor or open work permit to come along with me after marriage?

yes, she can certainly apply for a visitor's visa. while it's difficult to get, it's not impossible. it may be better for her to apply for one BEFORE you get married and she's added to your application.

Thats good to know. But even if she applies, what is she gonna explain as her visit when she is coming after marriage? Should she mention that her PR is in process and she is travelling with me?
