I have applied for AINP under the H1 category and am yet to receive my file number. I am in the process of applying PCC for India. I have relatives who can do it from India. For those who have got it from India thro relatives, can you please tell me what are the documents that was requested by them, fees paid and if it was accepted by CIC.
TIA
Hi,
I got mine from India too, it was simple has my dad go to the local police station and request for them. I think the fee was pretty nominal and not that much. But you know the way things are out there
Not sure if CIC will accept them, but I dont see why they should not accept them.
Ell Bee
Thank you very much. One more question, how much time did they take to give the certificate?
TIA.
I think it took them around 2-3 days. It was very quick.
There is another way to get PCC from India, that is by going personally to the regional passport office. But for that you have to be in India, and not an option for everyone unless one will be visiting India.

For Embassy in Washington DC, we have to submit our passport till we get the PCC! It could take a month or more and I dont want to risk that.

Why would Embassy ask your passport if there is any risk?

I dont want to give my passport to them for a month or two in this bad economy. What if I get laid off tomorrow and have to leave the country... I dont want my passport stuck with them.

You don't have to leave to India the next day after you laid off from your job unless if you have already set your mind for that. Don't you wait for 15-30days looking for an another job or waiting for your nomination? USCIS takes more than a month to cancel your H1 status. Refer murthy forums.
I opted not to pursue getting PCC from DC for the same reason as diva. You never know when you might need to leave the country for any reason... lay-off is just one.
I have applied for CIC with my PCC from India.

I am not sure if this is even possible...To get PCC from India you have to submit your passport and they put a stamp in your passsport with a date stamp and the purpose of PCC (here Canada Immigrayion). It has some reference number too (ENDT No.). The passport officer also signs it in original just below the stamp.
So how did even one manage to get one from here without the original passport ????
That is one way.
