My common law partner already has a tourist visa that is valid for 5 or 10 years (can´t remember if 5 or 10) so I am thinking of doing my express entry application with a non-accompanying spouse. I would go there alone to find a job and apartment and make him come with his tourist visa after a couple of month of me being there. While he is with the tourist visa (after another couple of months, so i´d be in Canada for about 4 to 5months) I would apply to sponsor him (I read that at the same time I could apply for an open work permit for him)
Does that sound realistic or am I dreaming that this is possible?

I don't think this is a good idea. It may take 1-2 years to get his PR through family sponsorship with the inland/OWP route, during which time it's advised not to leave Canada for any reason. He'll have to do another medical exam, and you'll need to go through lots of effort to complete a family class application.
Or if you just list him as accompanying spouse on your own PR app, then he can get PR at the same time as you. He could do a quick landing in Canada and return to home country if he likes. Or if the validity date on his COPR is a long way off, he may be able to wait several months before he needs to land as a PR.

The problem is with him as accompanying I don't have much points. (467) which might takes months before we receive an ita.
But if I apply inland I believe I can apply for an open work visa for him or even a study permit while his application is being processed isn't it?
