In Canada on a visitor's visa, can i apply for a skilled visa?

I am planning on coming over to canada on a visitors' visa and I was wondering if it is possible to apply for a highly skilled visa whilst in the country on a visitor's visa. Anyone who has done this before, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Nope, you can find a job, get an employer to get an approved LMO, then you apply for the work permit outside Canada. If you don't require a medical and you are from a visa exempt country, you could apply at a Port of Entry.

Did you have to apply for a visitor visa to come to Canada? If so you are not from a visa-exempt country.
