I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with a similar situation and might know about mine.
My question is whether I will receive "implied status" if my post-graduate work permit expires while I am waiting to receive my PR.
I'm currently working for UBC on the PGWP which expires August 13, 2012. My PR application is not yet submitted but I should have it in by the end of the month with my wife Sponsoring me under Family Class Sponsorship.
We also have a baby due August 7.
If I receive implied status, then can continue working no big deal. If not, well..
If the expiration is a typo and you meant August 2013, you can work until that date. You will have to send a request of change of status before it expires in order to stay unless you go for LMO route. You will not get implied status continuing to work, since PGWP is not extendable, until you receive OWP (inland) or land (outland). Try to send the PR application asap. You may be able to receive OWP or be landed before your PGWP expires. Then there won't be any gap in which you are not allowed to work. That would be best option.
Just so that you know, you can apply outland even when you are living in Canada.
