Me and my husband are on 3 year open work permit in Canada and planning to have a child soon.
So as per my knowledge my new born child will be Canadian citizen by law, correct me if I am wrong.
Now, my question is can we apply for Canadian citizenship or permanent residency based on my child citizenship?
If not can we extend our work permit or our stay in Canada based on our child citizenship?
Although your child would be Canadain having a child in Canada for sure does not give you any rights as far as Canadian citizenship is concerned given you would need to become PRs and qualify after 4 years out 6 years same as everyone else. Same goes for extending work permit the child really does not give you any extra rights to stay in Canada. Others can comment if any options at all.
