I’m a temporary resident working on a yacht in Canada and have been here since November. My fiancée who I’ve been with for over 2 years and have an official common law partnership signed by the authorities was wanting to come and visit for 8-10 weeks to plan our wedding that’s in November. Unfortunately she’s been refused authorisation even though we sent everything they asked.
We sent accommodation details for quarantine, common law partnership certification, proof of living together for over a year etc etc.
Has anyone else had this and can anyone offer any advice. We’re both British though live in France. This will mean I won’t see her til April-May.

IRCC will refuse authorization if they feel the reasons for travel are non-essential. If someone is requesting authorization for example to come and be reunited with an immediate family member for the purposes of living with them in Canada, that generally stands a higher chance of being approved. If someone is only coming for a visit (as in your case), that stands a higher chance of being refused since IRCC's view is that a visit can be deferred.
