Hi everyone,
I was wondering if it's possible to check more than one box (like PR application and GCMS) in an Access to Information and Personal Information Request Form (IMM5563B).
Also do either of you know what's the difference between Access to Information Act and Privacy Act boxes in this form. Apparently, under Privacy Act the information should be release for free, but will this information be the same as under Access to Information Act and what are the requirements to apply under the Privacy Act.

thanks

If you're applying for your own case/file notes and you're present in Canada legally, you can use Privacy Act which is free. (Send them copy of proof of legal status in Canada)

If you're applying for somebody else (on their behalf) then you should use the Access to Information which is not free.

And yes, you can select as many items as you want to obtain

Things to Remember:

GCMS is for citizenship applications only
CAIPS is for immigration files abroad
FOSS is the in-Canada information on your file

If you have a citizenship application in process, it is useless to order caips or foss, etc. Just order GCMS.

If your PR is in process, then order caips/foss, because GCMS will be empty(useless)

Normally these are only ordered if there seems to be a longer-than-usual delay in processing.

Takes about 4-6 weeks to obtain after applying.

I appreciate your help, Canvis!

I've submitted caips requests in the past, but only for a single case # and wasn't sure if I can go for multiples. And thanks for confirming the info re: Privacy Act. Last time I paid $5 even though I was in Canada legally.
