Hi,

My PR Card expired in Dec2019. I came to Karachi, Pakistan in Jan2020. I didn't know my PR Card is already expired. When i was returning to Canada in Feb2020, i came to know it at KHI airport.

Considering PRTD:
Today (Feb142020) it is more than 991 days, that i stayed in Canada in the past 5 years that suffices residency obligation (of 730 days)
I am pregnant 27 weeks. My C-Section is booked in June2020 in Canada. Due to pregnancy, i may not be able to travel after 4 or 5 weeks (of PRTD application submission).

Question 1: How can i make it Urgent?
I am attaching Dr. letter about pregnancy, C-section booking, my appointment visits, credit card transactions, home rental contract, CRA tax returns of 2017/2018, Child benefits etc.
Question 2: How much time my case can take if i apply for PRTD in KHI?
Question 3: Can i get it faster if i apply from Islamabad visa office?

Question 4: My husband is in Canada. Can I send the expired PR card to him somehow and get it renewed? (CIC website shows 27 days processing time)
Question 5: What is the possibility of going via US visit visa then by road route to Canada?

Your quick response will be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You must be in Canada to renew your PR card so your best option is to fly to the US and go through a land border or appky for a PRTD.

There are residency obligations just for healthcare. Were you in Canada in 2019? What province do you live in?

1. You can attach documents but there is no formal method to request urgent processing, so up to the VO.

2. There are no posted processing times for PRTDs. It could be weeks or months.

3. I don't know.

4. No. You need to be in Canada to apply for a renewal.

5. If you already have a US visa, you can do this and it is likely the fastest way to return.

I became PR on 5Oct2014 in Toronto,ON. I recalculated number of days i stayed in Ontario in the past 5 years. Since 2017-Jan-20 i stayed 1,001 days till 2020-Jan-20 when i left Canada. My PR Card got expired in 2017-December-05.

I am planning to apply for USA visa assuming it can be processed in 25 calendar days. My reason of visa will be to enter in Canada because my surgery in Canada is on 2020-May-26 and flights will not allow me to board after 5 weeks because of high risk pregnancy.
What do you think about it?

What do you think about it? Does it worth trying? Do we have examples in the past?

I have no experience with US visas, so I can't say whether your plan will work or not.

Your only option will be to try for PRTD and US visa and hope one is approved. If you are such a high risk pregnancy Canada will be wonder why you traveled in the first place so in my opinion you can’t really say that your pregnancy is very high risk. It is best to be honest on any PRTD application. You were not aware of your PR card expiry date and need to get back to Canada to have your child.
