IMM5481 - Sponsorship Evaluation; What exactly are undertakings?

Hello!

My Canadian wife is trying to apply to become my sponsor. We're looking at IMM5481, and are having issues understanding the right half of the first page.

She lives by herself, and she's sponsoring her spouse. We have no kids. Where do we put the "1"? Also, do we have to leave the rest blank or should we write "0" in the other boxes?

Also, does net income include saving bonds?

IMM5481 is filled out by the sponsor. Under Number of Family Members and persons included in undertakings in effect and not yet in effect: She puts in 1 for herself then 1 for you as her current undertaking. IMM 0008 is filled out by the immigrant. The rest would be zero, if I understand your situation correctly. Total number being 2.

Interest from savings might be considered as income but the bonds would be assets, not income.

Yes, I think so. They are static and fixed. Income is considered to be something that is ongoing.

Assuming the child is Canadian, s/he is included in 6B.

But there's also question (6) asking if she is also sponsoring her spouse.
Therefore she has to put 1 for herself, 1 for (5A) since he filled box #3 in IMM0008 with 1, and 1 for question (6). That makes a total of 3???

You need to read more carefully.

The question states: 6. Persons not included in 5. above, if applicable. The spouse is already included in question 5.
