IMM0008 - Can dependents only be children?

Hi there, I'm having some trouble filling out the IMM0008 form. I want to sponsor my wife. On the Dependants section, it says "You must provide the following details about each of your family members....if applicable, and all of your dependent children and those of your spouse ..." etc. So, my question is, can the depenants only be children of my spouse/myself? Or are they referring to brother/sister/parents? Since, the guide says that if I don't include them now, I won't be able to sponsor them later (her family). But, it only gives room for dependant type A B or C, which are all children.

I'm sure there's something really obvious that I'm not getting

That form is only asking about your children and your wife's children (if there are any). IMM 5406 asks for details of your other family members such as brothers, sisters, etc.

IMM5406 states that "the principle applicant and their spouse if applicable and all dependant children"... etc.

Do I have to fill it out if I am the sponsor, or regardless of whether or not I am a Canadian Citizen, I need to fill it out?

I think you might be getting yourself a bit confused with these forms. If you are sponsoring your wife then your wife is the principal applicant. You are the sponsor. So, you complete all the forms in the sponsor's package and your wife completes all the forms for the applicant. You can help her to complete her application but when you are helping her just keep in mind that its her application so everything relates to her and her family and dependents.

IMM 5406 should be completed by your wife only. She is the applicant, your details get entered where it says spouse, and the rest is for details about her children, her parents, her brothers and sisters (if any).
