I am a Canadian resident who is sponsoring his wife from India. For the form IMM 1344 - Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking, in question 3 it asks "Is there a co-signer on this application?" (co-signer must be the spouse or common-law partner of the sponsor). But Guide 3900 it says:

Question 3 - Check one box to indicate if you have a co-signer or not.

Only your spouse or common-law partner can co-sign this application.

Note: If you are sponsoring your spouse or common-law partner, you cannot have a co-signer.

So why does the question in the form (at the top) say otherwise? ???

Since you are under Spousal Sponsorship, CO-SIGNER does not apply to you.

Because you would use the same form IMM 1344 when sponsoring a parent or parents, in that case you could have a co-signer which most likely would be your spouse, that's the reason the question is there. For sponsoring your wife and kids you don't need a cosigner and you leave the question as Not Applicable.

That makes sense now. Thanks for clarifying this for me!
