My girlfriend had a part time job until march 2015 this year when she found a FT job. She now is averaging 1300 before tax. she takes home in her bank about 1k every two weeks. Thats about $31,200 before tax she earns.

We have a dependant son (he is 16 months old). I currently work in Canada on an experience Canada work Visa. I earn $70,000 a year. i have around 17 months left on my work visa so were doing the inside canada family sponsor (common-law) visa route then i dont need to return to the UK.

I'm really worried she doesn't earn enough money to sponsor me. From the table below i would she would need to earn 36,520

Table 3 - Low Income Cut-Off (LICO)

Size of Family Unit Minimum necessary income
1 person (the sponsor) $23,861
2 persons $29,706
3 persons $36,520
4 persons $44,340
5 persons $50,290
6 persons $56,718
7 persons $63,147
More than 7 persons, for each additional person, add $6,429

Income available to your spouse or common-law partner, if he or she is a co-signer
Complete questions 15 and 16 if your spouse or common-law partner is co-signing the sponsorship undertaking. Print the required employer and/or, if self-employed, the business or professional information. You must also complete the calculation based on the “Option-C Printout” (question 17) and/or the preceding 12 months (question 18) to determine the income he or she earned and that can be added to your available income if you need help to meet the financial requirement.

Question 16. – Your co-signer’s situation over the last 12 months
Complete the sections (A, B and/or C) which apply to your co-signer’s situation during the 12 months preceding the date of your application. If your co-signer’s situation changed during that period, in the Period I column, enter information on the most recent period and, in the next columns, enter information on the previous period(s), which make(s) up the rest of the 12 months preceding your application.

Refer to instructions for question 11 to help you complete question 16.

Note that if during any period in the 12 months preceding your application your co-signer was unemployed, the income he/she received from sources other than employment (for example, pension income or special benefits paid under the Employment Insurance Act) should be entered in section A.

If you need additional space, provide details on a separate sheet.

Does this mean i can add my income because i am currently working in Canada to the amount so it shows we can support our selves a lot better?

It sounds a bit silly that i would be co-signing my girlfriends application to sponsor me? is this right??

Our joint income is $101,000 ish together.

You are confused, you only need that form if you have dependants who have dependants, you'd have to be a grand-parent. Spousal sponsorship other than that are exempt from LICO. Regardless your child is Canadian by birth, correct? You are not directly sponsoring an adopted child, you are sponsoring your common-law wife who has a dependant. You need to fill out IMM 5481.

Also, you should probably start calling her your wife, don't put girlfriend on the application.

Just one more thing to add, why on earth would you do an inland sponsorship if you are set with a work visa for the entire time it will take to do outland? Go for outland! It'll take half the time of the inland route, at least.

There is no income requirement to sponsor spouses or partners. My husband made way under that limit and he sponsored me.

If you are not married, do you need to write "N/A" at every single section which relates to spouse? At certain places you can't type it in so do I need to write "N/A" by hand? Or can I leave it blank?

Please advise.

You should write N/A in every single spot that doesn’t apply to you to avoid any confusion and this gives the officer no reason to believe you missed anything. You can write it by hand but it’s worth taking 5-10 mins to do.
