I have three children who are Canadian citizens but my wife is not. She doesn't have any legal status in Canada. I am applying for a the Family class program. Do I need to add my children in the sponsoring section of the application? (Generic Application IMM 0008?

If your children are Canadian citizens, you don’t have to add them in IMM008. You should only fill their information in IMM 5406 “Additional Family Information”.

I have gone thru this also in my case so to my knowledge SPONSOR does not fill imm 5406 at all. If above member is an APPLICANT then YES he/she must include all as described. They made it for all, in case husband wife both were immigrating. May read these 3 threads:-

IRCC keeps on changing forms. Hopefully they will write clarifications right on the FORM itself rather than DOC checklists!

Correct, sponsor doesn’t fill that form, only PA does. So PA will need to list their children in IMM 5406
