IMM 0008 - Immigration Office Question (Family Class)

Hi everyone,

I'm getting ready to fill out all the forms and sending in documents.

I'm a bit confused on the form IMM 0008 question 4: Immigration Office requested for the processing of your application.

Here is my situation:

I am sponsoring my father from China.

My father is currently in Canada (Toronto, Ontario) on a Super Visa, he will be staying here for 1.5 years.

Now, which office do I request?

Is it better to request an office here in Canada (Ontario)?

Or in Hong Kong (or Beijing).

Please advise.

Just to clarify, did you submit the sponsorship application for your father several years ago - and CIC is just asking for an update? Or are you submitting a new application to sponsor your father for PR? (Note that CIC is not accepting new parent sponsorship applications at this time. This application stream will reopen next year with new rules and likely new forms/paperwork to complete.)

The letter I received says:

"We are now ready to begin processing your sponsorship application and require additional information".

So it should an update now.

edit: I submitted an application several years ago and now they are asking for additional information.

I am still stumped as to which office I should put.

I'm planning on mailing my application by the end of this week.

If I request an office here in Canada, is it Ottawa office? Or Mississauga? Or Sydney?

I have absolutely no idea why you are filling out another application if you've already sent one in a few years ago, but I'm sure there is a reason.

As to your question, if your father is here in Canada, then I would suggest you choose CPP-O, which is Ottawa.

Other than that, I can't help you one iota.
