I applied Outland through Family Class and I am currently waiting for a decision on my permanent residency. I am currently in my home country but was up in Canada with my boyfriend on a tourist visa when we submitted the application for outland.
My question is, if I am approved, how exactly do I receive the PR and in what way will they notify me?
Your VO will most likely email you and tell you your visa is ready for pickup.....you will have to bring your passport to the VO, or fed ex it in to them, then you will have to pick it up, OR pay for a courier to go pick it up on your behalf and send it back to you. the VO will NOT mail you your passport with visa in it, back to you. It's up to you to arrange delivery and pick up. Some VO's will call you when your visa is ready to be issued. Guess it depends on the VO, and how they've been communicating with you during the process.

if you're from a visa-exempt country ( which I assume you are as you were on a tourist visa in Canada, and these are not very easy to get if you have a PR in process), you probably won't need to send in your passport. You can check on ecas the status of your application. Once you have "decision made" on the application part, then most likely your VO has issued your COPR (confirmation of PR), and will send it to you ( usually by post) to the mailing address you indicated in your application. It doesn't matter if you were in Canada or not when you applied, what matters is what mailing address you have indicated in your application.
If you're not from a visa-exempt country, then the VO will most likely request your passport before issuing the PR.
Good luck,
Sweden
