Dear cocknbull

When you open this link canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/new-fsw-points-criteria-announced-new-federal-skilled-trades-class-fstc-t115576.0.html and click the word HERE, it will show there that in Reading
IELTS CLB FSWC POINTS
5.0 or less <=6 Not eligible for FSWC
5.5 6 or 7 May get 4 points6.0 7 4 points
6.5+ 8+ 5 or 6 points (depending on where cut-off is defined for CLB 8 vs CLB 9 equivalency,
IELTS 6.5 is 5pts and IELTS band(s) approaching 9.0 would be 6pts)

Yes dear thats right on Page 2 of the above thread "ohcanadiana" says

Reading
IELTS CLB FSWC POINTS
5.0 or less <=6 Not eligible for FSWC
5.5 6 or 7 May get 4 points
6.0 7 4 points
6.5+ 8+ 5 or 6 points (depending on where cut-off is defined for CLB 8 vs CLB 9 equivalency,
IELTS 6.5 is 5pts and IELTS band(s) approaching 9.0 would be 6pts)

but on page 10 of the same thread "Ohcanadiana" says

Reading
IELTS CLB FSWC POINTS
5.5 or less <=6 Not eligible for FSWC
6.0 7 4 points
6.5+ 8+ 5 or 6 points (depending on where cut-off is defined for CLB 8 vs CLB 9 equivalency,
IELTS 6.5 is 5pts and IELTS band(s) approaching 9.0 would be 6pts)

so I guess later one is correct which is on Page 10.

You can ask "ohcanadiana" who is originator of this thread. He knows more. You can send him private message. Thanks

ya. will PM him.. Thanks a lot...

Listening 7 = CLB 7 = 4 pts
Reading 7 = CLB 9 = 6 pts
Writing 6.5 = CLB 8 = 5 pts
Speaking 6 = CLB 7 = 4 pts

Total = 19 Points

* First official language
° Minimum threshold in all abilities initially set at CLB/NCLC 7 - this would also grant 4 points per ability
° CLB/NCLC 8: 5 points per ability
° CLB/NCLC 9: 6 points per ability
* Second official language
° Maximum of 4 points awarded for at least CLB/NCLC 5 in all abilities

thanks for the response my dear.

but,,,do i still need to get a total band score of 7?

Overall band score doesn't matter, CLB 7 (IELTS 6 Bands in all abilities) is the minimum threshold for FSWP, so you are eligible.

hi there.
i was just wondering.
how come my total band score is only 6.5

I got my scores as below
L-7.0
R-7.0
W-6.5
S-6.0

how i calculate the sum of these 4 is 26.5.
divide it to 4 is 6.625.
If you round it off, it should be 7.
Am i correct?

Can someone help me calculate my total band score? please...

GUYS, do u have any idea how are they going to assess our credentials?
What would be the reason of your eligibility?

What would be the reason of your eligibility?

As per my understanding, the reason for doing credential assessment is to equate your non-Canadian educational qualification against Canadian education system. By doing this, the employers will find it easier to understand your educational value in their terms, there by increasing your chances of getting employed in your own profession once you reach there. By doing this, they also plan to avoid all the fake education qualification claims and admit only genuine ones. Your eligibility is determined by the concerned regulatory bodies at federal or provincial levels and by your employers as applicable.

Taking a look at the following link can give you more details on 'how' they are going to assess the credentials:

http://www.credentials.gc.ca/recognition/how/assessment.asp

You may also take a look at the following link for credential assessment:

http://www.cicic.ca/415/credential-assessment-services.canada

Hope it helps.

But how are they going to assess it?

Like in my case, my degree is Bachelor of Arts in Development Communication.
But most of my work experience is in office administration for almost 5 yrs.
Would there be any chance that i will be ineligible because of my degree?

share your full details like your total exp, married, family in canada etc...

Hi there

For me, (as the principal applicant)
27 yrs old
bachelors degree graduate (Bachelor of Arts in Development Communication) - total 16 yrs of studies

1.5 yrs as restaurant supervisor (NOC 6311)
IELTS is 6.5 (L & R=7.0, W=6.5, S=6.0)

For my spouse
29 yrs old
bachelors degree graduate (Bachelor of Arts in Development Communication) - total 16 yrs of studies
7+ yrs working experience
