I got 12 points in IELTS [L=7 (2), R=7.5(4), W=6.5(4) & S=6(2)] and my total points are 63 and I am short of 4 points. Is it possible to appeal immigration officer to consider my case?
Dear Friends,
I have again taken the IETLS test and the result is;
L=7.5, R=7.5, W=7, S=7 and overall band is 7.5.
I have two questions.
1. Should I have to submit original test report to embassy?
2. Immigration officer had given me 3 months to submit the test report i.e. September 22, 2009, but I am almost 2 months late. Do they accept it or not?

Hi,
Where do u belong from, i am form Pakistan, i got L=7, R=6.5, W=6, S=7.5 and overall band is 7. But i am astonished to get such a low score, now considering to Re-check my marks, though with this score i score 70 points, will u advise anything.
I am also from Pakistan. I got 7.5 in my third attempt. In first test, I got 6.5 and then 7.0.
You are saying that your total points are 70, it's a good news as for immigration required points are 67.
My entire Education was in English and I am working in US for past 5 years. Should I write a letter to immigration explaining my career details or should I appear for IELTS. If yes, then can anyone give me the details as from where I have to give the test and the details????

Welcome to forum, you didn't mention about your country of origin, lets simplified it, If you are not born in a country where English is native language you have to take the English equivalent (IELTS). If you were born in US you will not need to take any test to prove your English, although u can include a covering letter stating this and fact US educated - just to make sure!
But If English is not you first language you definitely have to do IELTS it doesn’t matter if you need the points or not .If u been living in US for 18 years , having Green Card holder done some courses in UK and USA and still have to pass the test.
My country of origin is India. As you suggested, I am planning to give IELTS, do we have to give general pratice or advanced level. Can you send some practice tests for those...

Hi,
General ofcourse for Immigration, though their are plenty of websites on the net, but i found following 3 very helpful to get the touch; http://www.docstoc.com/search/ielts-sample-test/ http://www.aippg.com/ielts/ielts-downloads.htm http://elc.polyu.edu.hk/ielts/ (The best)
But i will recomend you to buy the Cambridge IELTS preparation books, they are really helpful and CDs are of great help for Listening indeed. As u are in US, IELTS will be a piece of cake and above sites will be helpful but do some practice before appearing, I myself being very much confident, but the IELTS result really astonished me. Any way all the best!
