Hello. I know that Canada has laboUr shortages in tourism and I would like to apply for a job in the hotel or something like that. What's the best way to go about it, what agency should I contact etc? Of course, I'm talking about the temporary worker program. Thanks in advance for any help. I've read a lot about it online, just not from people who have actually done it.
Canada also claims to have shortages in skilled occupations yet many skilled immigrants are stuck in non-related survival jobs. The reality is that It is extremely difficult to get hired directly into any field without local education. A possible way to get is to take a very short vocational certificate/diploma in tourism (several weeks) with internship and try to do your best to stay in the company for permanent employment. On paper there is shortage of labour, but in reality there is also a large supply of labour for these jobs because there are thousands of canadian-born graduates of liberal arts or other subjects with limited job opportunities, who would gladly work as Sheraton receptionist.

It depends where you live, what languages you speak.
If you can talk to a manager in person, that would be best. They may be willing to take chance if you speak other languages that are similar to their guests. Do some research and find out where you can fit in.
