I renewed my passport, but my study permit was on my old passport

I am about to start my studies in Canada this September. I applied for a study permit on my old passport however I applied for a new one. I want to know if I need to start a brand new application or if it is possible to renew my study permit. I can't contact IRCC since I dont think there is an international number or email I can use. I used the web enquiry form but I am not sure how long it will take for them to respond. My study permit will take 6 weeks maximum to be approved. So I need to apply 6 weeks before going. Should I just start a new application?

Did you apply on paper and have submitted your passport already? How long is the old passport valid for?
Also note if you are going by the processing time on IRCC website 6 weeks is not maximum but average time, it can take much longer. I suggest you cancel your passport renewal until you get the visa then apply for a new passport. Then you can travel with both passports.

My old passport is valid until 2019. My passport has been renewed already. I don't need a visa but just a study permit. Is it possible for me to enter the country with my old passport and study permit And just say that I renewed my passport? Or will they not let me in because it's not a valid passport so not a valid study permit
