I have arrived to Canada on 3 year work permit month back with an LMO,my NOC code is 5242,my qualification is Interior Designer & my responsibilities is Project Manager.
I need to know what immediate action I need to take to enhance or secure my living status in Canada permanently.
Do I need to continue working on work permit?
Do I need to apply for PR,Can I apply for PR? If I can apply for PR please guide me with the categories & procedures.
If none of the above what are my other options?
My company has suggested me to work on these options.
I would sincerely appreciate your kind assistance.
As I understand it, you are limited to 4 years on a work permit for that NOC, so PR is really your only long term option. See http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/getting-started.asp to start the process but I suspect that CEC might be an option for you once you meet the requirements. How long have you been working in Canada so far?
You may be able to apply under FSW (Federal skilled worker class) with your work permit, experience etc. (points system) but it is even simpler to apply under CEC (Canadian experience) but you must work full time for 1 year before you are eligible for that.
You can learn more about both and other immigration classes here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp
I suggest you go to the website above and check if you qualify to apply under FSW. If you do, you can apply now. If you don't, you wait until you have 1 year of full time work in Canada and then apply under CEC.
