Hey guys, you read the title right, I am a South Korean national that was born on international borders that is currently studying in Canada. I am turning 22 this year and I am considering of joining the South Korean military for my mandatory 2 year service. I have a couple of things that I need to ask before making this decision, first being my international study permit.

My study permit will expire in August 2025 along with my CAQ. I am currently in the process of applying for a temporary study permit extension as I am a third year student and my study permit had a term of 3 years instead of 4.

I currently attend at concordia university and I will contact my international advisor about more information next week, but what are your thoughts?

what will happen if i dont renew my study permit and leave the country for mandatory service?
what will happen if I DO renew my study permit and leave the country for mandatory service?

Will i need another acceptance letter from concordia once I come back from South Korea in order to apply for another study permit?
will the government allow me to return to finish my studies?

Im sure this is a simple process but for me it's quite a lot haha. I have never lived in south korea and I only went to visit my extended family members.
