My question is simple:
I live in Canada, I have PR. My wife lives abroad. I know I can sponosor my wife but that takes a year processing time. I am wondering, can she apply to get a work permit to come here (without having a job offer), then I can sponsor her while she is here on her work permit?
I know many students on study permits, who bring their wives on an open work permit without having a job offer. so I am wondering if this is available for me as a PR.
A spouse being sponsored is eligible for a work permit only if they are already living in Canada. Since your wife is abroad, she can't get a work permit based on the sponsorship.
If she can come to Canada (she'll need a valid visa), and stay with you, then yes, you can sponsor her from here and she can get a work permit in a few months (around 4 months).
