Hi All,

I am sponsoring my partner from the Philippines. I am a permanent resident and I am torn in between clicking Do you work in Canada or not on the employment history section on the checklist. I just quit my job but I do have a letter of employment and a notice of assessment from CRA.

Can anyone give me some piece of advise?
It would be much appreciated.

thanks,

You need to be honest and truthful in your application. Lying will not help you.

I have a letter prepared stating that I am not employed as of the moment and pay stubs for the past 12 months.

would that be sufficient?

should I choose working in canada but unemployed as of the moment?

Your unemployed therefore you are not working and must state that. I believe you have to also write a letter advising that you are currently seeking employment at the time of this application. You need to prove that your also financial capable of supporting your spouse since at the date of the application, you are unemployed.

One last thing. I have a T4 for last year since I was employed last year Should I include that with the application?

Notice of assessment from CRA is okay then attach letter of explanation that you quit your job and currently seeking a new job or what source of income you’re planning to do to support your partner financially.

thank you very much

I hope everything will be okay.

Yeah it’s not a problem to be honest in the first place I read some people here no jobs but the relatives are the one who’s helping them and they attached bank account and pay check of their relative with explanation and seems fine. If cic wants more proof or additional documents they will let you know. Good luck!
