Husband & our children are citizens, can I get a super visa?

My husband and our two kids are citizens (we are currently in the process of obtaining their proof of citizenship & passports).
None of us have lived in Canada but are currently buying a house there.
We've applied for spousal sponsorship for me, we won't have a mortgage when we move there & we will have about $90k savings.
Whilst I wait for my sponsorship to come through (9-12 months is the estimation), what is the best way for me to stay in Canada (we're aiming to go in January)?

Normal visas last up to 6 months so I was hoping to be eligible for a super visa as my children are Canadian...

Any advice would be much appreciated!

No - you don't qualify for a super visa.

Your children would need to be working adults and meet the minimum income requirements in order for you to qualify for a super visa.

So would I just have to apply for a normal visa (up to 6 months)?
Seems really sad that my husband's mother could come out for up to 2 years but his wife (of 15 years) can only stay up to 6 months

If you're Australian then you obtain an ETA (not a visitor visa). You simply apply to extend your stay towards the end of your visit if you want to stay longer.

The super visa is not meant to bridge spousal sponsorship. It was introduced because parents sponsorship processing times were extremely long (10 years) and it provides a means of allowing parents to come to Canada for a longer visit while waiting out a decade long processing time. For this privilege, the sponsor (child) must meet specific requirements including income requirements.

Yes - you'd follow the same ETA process.
