Husband has Student Visa - Wife has a PR

Hi,

Heres my situation:

I received my student visa on 15th July. Got married on 20th August. Arrived with my wife on 23rd August.

My wife is a PR holder (soon to get her nationality)

As I didn't have the nikkah documents when I flew, I didn't inform immigration of status change on arrival.

I plan on applying for my spousal PR soon.

1. Do I need to inform IRCC of my status change before I apply for my PR?
2. How do I go about the PR process? Will it be an issue that I got married before I arrived in Canada, once I do apply with my Nikkah certificate?

Hello,

1. Fill the forms with all information required on forms (truthfully).
2. I don' think so. I got married after getting a business visitor visa (but before travelling). When I arrived in Canada, I applied for PR (sponsored by spouse).

I'm not familiar with Nikkah, but I imagine you refer to a marriage certificate. You'll provide that certificate because you will need it to prove eligibility in that stream.
