Applying outland. through CPC-M then onto London
common law.
Just got a letter from CIC :
-Re Sponsorship application: We have processed the payment submitted however and additional $475 is required.
WTF?
Since when does the Sponsorship application cost 475+75!?!?!!?????
We submitted:
1. Sponsorship application, +fee of $75
2. App. for Perm Residency + fee of $475
As I understand it, and additional $475 is required - IF i get approval and is to pay for the PR card itself!
The letter seems legit, has a sticker for CPC-M with initials of an IO on it.
!!!!??!?!

Check the copy of the receipt you sent and just send them another. Sounds like a mistake to me.
Unless you have got AIP in super record time.....LOL
Did you send two separate fees receipts, rather than putting the sponsorship and PR processing fees on the same receipt (i.e. $75 and $475 rather than $550 total)?
If so, I would say it is likely they simply didn't see the second fees receipt in there. Especially if it wasn't immediately next to the first.
I'd write back saying you already sent the fee receipt for PR processing, enclosing another copy.
The Right of Permanent Residence fee (RPRF) which must be paid before they issue the PR visa is $490.

OP wouldn't get AIP as this is an outland application.
You can use the Immigration fees calculator to confirm the fees that you need to pay: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/efee/efee.do
For a simple family sponsorship application (ie. no kids, just one spouse sponsoring the other), you need to pay:
Sponsorship application fee $ 75
Principal applicant fee $475
Right of permanent residence fee $490
TOTAL $1040
So if this is just a simple sponsorship, you actually still owe $490.
You must pay the first 2 fees upfront with your application. You can hold off paying the RPR fee until your visa is approved, but if you can afford to pay everything together it's recommended that you do that to avoid any delays in processing.

Did you actually read my post?
We submitted:
1. Sponsorship application, +fee of $75
2. App. for Perm Residency + fee of $475
So, yes, the $490 is whats remaining.
Hopefully this situation is as was mentioned above - we paid in two separate arts, and they simply didnt see the second receipt.
I know, I know, it was STUPID of me to PUT THEM RIGHT BESIDE EACH OTHER STAPLED TO THE SAME SHEET! How hard is it for them to Look??
I'll post back, include the copy of the receipt we have, and try to keep from using bad words.
grrrr.

Yes, I did actually read your post. I was confirming that all you owe is $490, not an additional $475 + $490.
Oh and you're welcome by the way. ???
My apologies - youre quite right, I was being rude - I'm sorry.
:/
First panic-rant of the process, yay.

irish, it is possible that they meant to say you owe 490 and they mistake to say 475. (i have had several errors over the past year and half dealing with the local canadian embassy including...them approving a visitor visa for one day instead of one year..lol..)
you could pay the money as in any case you have to pay it. and send back all the receipts as proof of Total payment.
most likely your application is being processed at a fast pace since you are from Europe side. So cough u the 490 as early payment helps speed up your application!
We applied through London and paid $1040 altogether. I thought I read somewhere that you had to pay all the fees, including the PR fee at the beginning and then you get the PR fee reimbursed if you don't end up getting PR.
Sounds like a mistake to me also I would fax CPC-M..I have had mistakes also..On my Visitors Record that was issued in July 2010 my Old Passport number was on it which made my VR invalid as my old passport was no longer in circulation as I changed my surname..I hope you get this sorted out ASAP...
It could be possible that the detached your receipts as staples are not supposed to be used in the application and Lost your receipt for the PR Application then forgot it was actually included..
And dont worry about not paying RPRF at the start...just make sure you pay it either before London requests it or as soon as they request it to avoid delays..I didnt pay my RPRF until August (I applied 1st June) and my Visa was issued and Passport Requested by London 1 week later! I got my passport back and land next week..so isnt always a huge problem if you pay RPRF later on!
Good Luck

You don't have to pay everything upfront, but you can if you choose to. And yes, if you don't get PR they would refund your RPR fee.
If you paid your fees online you would have created an account with CIC. If you don't still have a copy of the original receipt, you can log into this account and reprint the receipt and send it to them. Reply to the letter with another copy of the receipt. They will continue processing as soon as they receive it. You won't have to go to the back of the que.
Staples are taken out of applications received right away. 2nd receipt probably got lost or misfiled when they "cleaned" your application.
