Hi, I just withdrew my Simplified Application. I emailed my visa office and they advised me to send them an original letter or fax with the signature to withdraw. They did not however, say anything about how long it would possibly take for a refund but I expect it to be around 6 months.
Yes you can do that if they are under 2 different categories. If you are ready to submit your second application, you can attach a written indication that you only wish to pursue your application under the new category and withdraw the the other one.
Here is my two cents:
I researched a lot to find out what the best practice can be. But I did not find much. The only OFFICIAL remark by the CIC is the one on the FAQ of their website: Quote:
If I applied before the new law came into effect, and I would be eligible for processing according to the criteria in the instructions, can I withdraw my application and reapply under the new system?
Yes. If you want to withdraw your application and reapply under the new rules you may do so.
Yep you can. New Application, New fee and everything.
2 Application can run parallel as well. And when one is decided you can withdraw the other. I was told that with the medicals the VO asks if you want to withdraw. Though our medical came, but, no such letter regarding withdrawal is attached along with. But anyways, you can re-apply. Add a cover letter with details of previous application as well.
