How to immigrate to Canada?

Hello everyone. I have a question about immigrating to Canada permanently. I'm a US citizen but I'm currently living in Russia with my husband (he only has Russian citizenship).
I was wondering if the only way to eventually get permanent resident status was to first get a job in Canada?
Please help. I did read about immigration on the official Canadian website but I'm a bit confused about the whole process.

Hi Opheliusa: Welcome to the Forum. I am sure there are many people here who can give you suggestions, but the easiest way to start is to give us a bit of information. Getting a job offer is one way to come, but if you tell us what you both do, education, etc there may be the Federal Skilled Worker route. Get your information to us quickly as on 1 July there will probably be some new rules. Last few years there have been 29 jobs in the demand list and there was a maximum number of 10,000 applications (500 in each occupation), so some of the popular occupations filled up quickly and were closed. hi, i am also new here and i want to immigrate to canada?i am from philippines but i am currently working here in saudi arabia as a nurse...i made an aseessment to Campbell Cohen canadian immigration and i was eligible for application...somehow i'm afraid to apply online..can you give me some advise if it's wise to apply online...and how sure i am if they won't fool me. i would love to read ur answer...thanks.
