Which one are you really trying to verify? LMO or work visa? If the LMO has been issued to you without any pay, it's genuine. If you pay for it, most likely, it's fake. If you receive a passport request, it's a good sign to receive a visa and it's genuine.

I guess you are talking about LMO. Call the number on the document and give them your confirmation file number, they are not surpose to disclose the file to you only to the employer, but if you are persuasive and gentle with them they will confirm for you whose name is on the LMO.
That is what I did couple of weeks ago and found out my LMO was fake. The file number does not match my name or employer.
