my classes are starting in january jan intake and i have recieved my study visa. so the question is how much time before can i visit canada . can i go in october ?
plz reply
If you are talking about coming on your study permit October might be a bit early for a January start given you need to convince CBSA that you can support yourself without working until your course starts. Ultimately depends on the CBSA officer you encounter at the time so maybe expect a few extra questions, no way to predict.
You should be fine just answer any questions honestly given really all CBSA are concerned about is whether someone gives they impression they need to work illegally to support themselves. Having someone to stay with will be a big plus as that takes a large expense out of the equation.
As always the advice is to be prepared for any eventuality given CBSA officers are not consistent.
Some may as previous poster just ask for passport and acceptance letter. Some may or may not ask more if arriving early such how someone plans to support themselves, no way to predict and can be something as simple as how busy they are at the time..
To a degree there is an element of trust that someone is not simply going to break the rules from the outset and is responsible enough to be able to support themselves until classes start... .
.It would likely be very rare if someone was turned away, probably does happen from time to time but more likely due to some misrepresentation being discovered or documentation not in order.
Ultimately goes without saying always answer CBSA questions honestly and you will be fine
