Lord, I feel like I've been waiting forever. Hubby and I have been married 5 years, and have 2 children together. I was always going down there so everything was ok, but we started the process for him to finally come up here.
Papers mailed: Dec 17th
Papers received: Dec 18th
Sponsorship approval: Mar 7th
Now what? The medical and background checks are done and sent in. What do we do now? Just wait?
Can anyone tell me approx how long it took for you from beginning to end? I just need a little encouragement, it feels like forever.........
You can check your status online (there's a link in the above link). Be sure of which visa office your app got sent to. It is not always the obvious choice (US Outland apps tend to stay in Canada unless there's something that needs a closer look, then it might get sent to Los Angeles or New York). And that some visa offices appear to have a super-long wait time because they are also processing a lot of more difficult cases along with the easier, more straightforward cases (for example, Pakistan and Afghanistan residents are being handled by other offices which may make those offices appear slower overall).
For you, you may want to follow the Kingston thread on this forum so you can see how others who have applied before you start to get their stuff processed and you can check their timeline.
