Well we have lived in Canada now for almost 3 years. We came over on a work visa. My husband has a fantastic job and decided to apply for permanent Residence MARCH 2010.
So since then we have bought a house, had a little boy (Canadian citizen) and basically become a fully settled immigrant.
We got a letter from the Detroit office asking for our P60'S as we are British which I'm guessing is to check the validity of our work experience. That was in March.....since then Nothing!!
I felt like we were making progress and now its come to a stand still....I'm worried as the Canadian Post here is really crap and any letters maybe lost in the post. How long have people had to wait since their application has been transferred to Detroit for it to progress??
I'm guessing we have to wait for a request for a medical......just how long will it take? our work visa runs out next year as does my husbands passport - needs to be renewed from the British consulate next year. Time just seems to be ticking along with no process. So frustrating!!
The worst thing is now our car (which we bought outright when we moved here) is now dying and we need a new one but no bank or car place will give us a loan because of our status here in Canada! Basically we have to be a resident to get any sort of credit. We have managed on our savings so far but we just don't have enough for a car anymore.
Is anyone else in the same boat??
