We (me and my wife) will be landing in Canada in 2011. As per CIC we need to show $13,802 CAD for both of us.
1. The site mentions that we need to declare if we are carrying more than $10,000. So do we have to declare if we are carrying in some form other than cash also - like TCs, cheque, etc?
2. I am currently in US. Can we open a bank account in Canada and transfer some fund there? Is that a possibility?

Pasi (4rum member just landed few weeks ago) brought the funds in cash and travel cheques (total $13k something). So you can bring as much as you can, just remember to declare those money, there won't be any problems. For my personal experience, I tried to open an TD bank in US, and routed money to soon-to-be open account in Can, but it seems not to be reasonable. Let me know if you have any ideas
So how do I go about opening a Canadian bank account before I land while I am still in US. Is there any particular bank which I should approach - any links, contacts?

You need to carry 14000$ approx and the limit is $ 10000 per person for undeclared
Two people are travelling comes out to 7000 each. No Problem
second I see This in every thread , people are afraid of declaring the money at customs , Dont see the Logic of being nervous The problem is if you carry and dont declare,
