Thanks a lot i really appreciate it.

as i remember the speaking and writing results were always not fragmented ie they should be 5,6,7 without a half !!!

is it possible now that you get a 6.5 in speaking or writin??

i would be grateful if you could let me know

In writing that's possible to get a decimal value. for speaking i am not sure.

I got exactly the same Points as Elbore

Speaking 7.0
Reading 6.5
Writing 6.5
Listening 6.0

What a coincidence :)

hi guys!

appreciate it if you let me know my points:

Reading 6.0
Listening 6.5
Writing 5.5

Hi guys,

Wow. You only need to get 7's and 6.5's to get full points for English. That's sounds very promising, under current Australian points test system you need to score 7 or above in each of the 4 sections of the IELTS test in order for you to claim extra poins , which means if you get 9,9,9,6.5 you would fail .Moreover, starting from July 2011 you would need to score 8.0 :o in each of the 4 sections of the IELTS test, which is crazy. I know for a fact that even some native English speakers won't be able to achieve that score and they expect someone from non-eglish speaking country to do it.

I think there will be a flood of applications from prospective immigrants once new points system is in palce.
Anyway, I am hoping to submit my application for Canadian PR in the next 12 months.

BTW, how do you convert your IELTS score into the actual points ?
Could someone provide a brief explation in a form of coversion table of some sort.

Thank you very much.

If u r plannig to apply for canada PR in the next 12 months then do not sit for IELTS right now. According to latest changes applicants must sit for General training IELTS & it is valid for only 1 year.
points for IELTS:
Listening 7.5 = 4
Reading 6.5= 4
Writing 6.5=4
speaking 6.5=4
Total 16 points(highest)

Hi Dr. Hasib,

I really appreciate your reply buddy.

Thanks for the tip about IELTS, but unfortunately i already had my IELTS and got 8's and 9's.
Well, i will need to do it again then, damn... I will need to pay the fee again :(

What's your story? Are you still waiting for your PR?

I can apply for Australian PR but prefer Canada. It's much bigger, plus closer to the US. :) But most importantly people are a lot more friendlier than in Australia.
