I applied for the CEC on Dec,2013. I had requested for the medical check up in June and I did right away. I found my CEC status has updated two weeks ago saying that "A decision has been made on your application. The office will contact you concerning this decision". I assume this is positive because it is updated after the medical test.
What would be the next step and how long should I wait?
I have not received any mail from CIC.
Is there a change that my application has denied?

The whole process takes 12-13 months and consists of 2 parts:
1 part. Determining you general eligibility (in your case its work experience & correct documents). And if everything checks out they submit you a medical request. Say it takes 5-6 month.
2 part. If your medical results are alright they start checking your background (criminality/terrorism/etc). This will take another 6 months (it could be more though depending on your history).
Regarding your questions.
1. You will hopefully get your final decision sometime in January 2015.
2. There is always a chance and you will be the first to know. But realistically you should be fine. You've already met their basic requirements for CEC (since you already have your medical test requested&completed and I don't think you have aids/stage 4 cancer or whatever deceases they don't want you to have in Canada). And those background checks are thorough but you really need to seriously *censored word* your life up in order to fail them (like being a terrorist or a serious criminal or something like that along those lines)

i am sure in 1 maximum 2 weeks you are going to received PPR in your email or directly the COPR in your mail if you are from an exempt visa country. Don't worry everything is going to be fine . The key is patience. ;D
