hey there, i am currently on my open work permit in Canada , i am going to get married with my gf soon, so anyone can suggest me which documents i need and how long it will take to process my application. My work permit going to expire in a yearr so am i am able to get pr yet?
you will have to give a little more details to have an answer - and even with details, there is no straightforward answer.
I suppose you will get sponsored by your wife, once you are married, if she is either Canadian or PR of Canada.
If you apply Inland, average time is 14 months from when the application is received. If you have a work permit that is extendable, you should include a work permit application with your PR application. Like this, you will have implied status ( so you can keep on working as long as your current work permit is extendable, and you include the OWP application before the current one expires), and after 6 months (stage 1), you will receive an OWP. Then another 8 months (in general, it can vary), before you become a PR.
If you want to apply outland ( while staying in Canada), then it depends where you are from, mostly.
for the documents : read the first post by Leon ( the first page), and once you have decided between inland and outland, then you can get the application package and start working on your application.
