How long does your Visa from another country should be Valid before you apply for Canada Study permit?

I am a foreign student currently residing in China.I am applying for Study permit to study in Canada, But my current Residence permit in China expires this month and I am in process of renewing it but at the same time would like to apply for study permit. I wanted to know if my current immigration status in China (Current Visa expiring at the end of this month) while applying with affect my application for study permit or have influence on the decision? Is it advisable to apply after I renew my current residence permit or apply for Canada study permit while renewing my Chinese residence permit. Thank you for your time.
