This is mainly for inland applicants. These applicants have not left Canada during their process and their original was done in Canada. Outland applicants should NOT rely on this.
Rule of thumb for outland applicants is 1 year. There have been cases of extensions but usually not more than a month and PLENTY of cases where travel for landing in Canada had to occur within days of visas being issued to beat the medical expiry date.
NEWS ALERT ..... medicals can last 2 years if your application has not been finalised in 10 month - 1 year (inland) depending on your medical results from your 1st medical....meaning, if your medical was good the 1st time round it can be extended for 2 years.
