hello guys, firstly id like to apoligise if iv put this in the wrong section of the forum, being a newbie im not sure.
ok so me and my girlfriend have been thinking about moving to canada from scotland for about a year now.we are coming over next february/march time for a browse around Calgary.although we have been looking around the net for info on moving over we seem to have conflicting results.i,m a qualified joiner/carpenter of 35 years of age, would i need employment before moving to canada?or could we move over and then job hunt??also how difficult would it be to start with the basics such as getting rented apartment, bank accounts, phones etc as obviously we would have no credit rating in canada.thanks in advance for any help it appreciated

have u got PR visa for canada already?

if not how can u move there permanently and start working?

if u havent applied for PR visa already, wait for july 2012 for new instructions to come, then see if u qulaify under any noc then apply

getting apartment, bank account, mobile phones are minor issues which u can get easily...first get ur PR visa? its not easy to get PR visa especially when new instructions are coming in july 2012

If I can make it you can make it to. 8) 8) 8)

If you can get employment before the application for PR it will make the file approval much easier and you do not need to qualify for one of the 29 job listings that will be available after july 1st.
I am sure you will find the best way for you

u can apply for PR visas in two ways

1) it is called FSW2 (federal skill worker 2) or AEO (arranged employment offer) . means u get a job offer from employer in canada before applying. it makes ur application smooth and very fast and u get 10 extra points but its not easy to get an AEO.

2) FSW 1 (federal skill worker 1). you will have to apply under new instructions coming in july 2012 bcz for last instructions cap has already been reached. wait for instrutions first. in july 2012 instructions bcz lots of changes are coming like evaluation of credentials , age points, language points etc. you will have to qualify under any NOC u qualify like carpenter etc or if u r wife is also qualified she can apply as princpial applicant and u being the spouse

if u want to check employment prospectives first then yes go to calgary and meet employers and try to find out if u have a scope there....
