right ali, but some airport desk are common for immigration check and the same desk officer put stamp on passport, but its depend on airport and country.
zulkfal right but when I left UK after visit the airport authority immigration desk look my passport & scan it. mostly the immigration desk scan your passport even you never know.
I know becasue the officer look the page and put it on small scaner type of machine. then he go on first page look at me ask me about my name DOB and he put that page on same device , my past worked with engineering companies of barcode scanner I understant that what type of device it is, I pretty sure its scanner and they scan visa page and my first photo page of passport.
I asked some one some time back that why UK doesn't put exit stamp on passport? The answer I got was "The boarding systems are connected with immigration system, and both are updated simultaneously".
they have special systems to check background and security checks (http://www.canadavisa.com/immigration-security-clearance.html). thats the hidden process for us, CHC has their own agencies to track it.
some forum OP's got background checks by CSIS agency, but I dont know more on it right now because those got letter from CSIS about backgound check completion.
what I got material on my own search :
Security Check:
The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) conducts a security check on all applicants ten years of age and older. Security screening procedures identify persons seeking admission who are, or have been, involved in espionage, subversion, or terrorism. CSIS may require an applicant to attend a security interview. Although applicants from certain nationalities will have a greater likelihood of undergoing security checks, information regarding the policies prompting security checks is "classified information" and not available to the general public.
May I ask why you wana know that? Do you want to trick or cheat the immigration authorities?? I am aware some people are doing that and they are keeping their PR status by dodging immigration authoities but one day they will get caught so if you have any such intention I would advise you to refrain from it.

Uk,Canada,U.S does not put exit stamp on passport instead u deposite Exit slip(Immegration Form which u fill at the time of entering country and bottom part is returned to u)at the time of taking boarding pass, which is handed over to immegration by airlines,
CIC does not track this exit date until you return back to Canada.
They can track your absence from Canada when you'd return back from outside. you know, they put an Entry seal on your passport.
