Hi guys... the selection criteria for getting PR through the Express Entry stream is as follows:
"Invitations are based on a scoring system: A positive Labour Market Impact Assessment, showing there is no Canadian worker available to do the job, is worth 600 points. Another 600 points are available for things like education and age."
As an international student who just completed his Masters in A/c & Finance from Ontario and is due to get his 3 yr post-grad work permit next month, what are the chances I will ever qualify for getting PR assuming it's impossible to get an LMIA. I'm aware that the points cut-off will go down slowly but without an LMIA (600 points), it will always be so difficult, right?
Well not sure if you're eligible for anything right now unless you have international work experience since you have no work experience in canada right now (I'm assuming).
Having said that (and please someone correct me if I'm wrong) - the only way you can get PR without LMIA is:
a) Setup your express entry and job bank profiles - have your score calculated (max 600 points - most intl grades would be in the 420-470 range) and hope the score comes down low enough OR
b) provincial nomination - will boost your score by 600 points if you get it and guaranteed ITA

Thanks for your reply. Regarding the provincial nomination, my friend in BC told me the same thing but do you know if Ontario has a similar PNP Express Entry? I checked their Opportunities Ontario website and am not able to figure it out. I think it might be similar to their Human Capital Priorities Stream.. http://www.ontarioimmigration.ca/en/pnp/OI_PNP_EE_CAPITAL.html#display

The International Student with a Job Offer Stream is your best bet and they are usually lenient once your job offer is approved. At least in BC.. They are always more helpful with a job offer I find.

I know, my point is that in my opinion they are more lenient towards people with job offers. I am assuming you will get a job to live in Canada. If that job qualifies I would rather apply to that but decision is yours obviously, choose the one that suits you and makes more sense to you.
