I know this probably sounds crazy because normally people would do just about anything to get their visa as quickly as possible but my circumstances are quite different. I applied to sponsor my husband from Egypt in April 2011 and only a few months later he suddenly got enlisted to do military service due to the current situation in Egypt. He won't be done military service until September 2012. He did his medicals in March 2011 so I know that if he's issued a visa anytime soon, it'll expire in March 2012 which isn't enough time. Just yesterday, my husband got an email from CPP-Ottawa saying "the file was transferred to the Case Processing Pilot-Ottawa office (“CPP-O”) for processing." I'm not sure if that means they're going to start processing it now or only that they have the file now. Would anyone know what I can do to delay the processing of his application so that he'll need to get new medicals done and hopefully the visa would expire 1 year from the new medicals? I haven't paid the Right of Permanent Resident fee yet so should I delay paying it when they ask for it? Or should I get my husband to delay sending in his passport when they request it? Or what else can I do???????????
What I think is if a final decision has not made on your husbands PR application you may try to withdraw the sponsorship.
Delaying the PR visa processing will not work favorably and also the methods you suggested are not practically worthy. Better you request for withdrawing the sponsorship application. As you have not paid the RPRF you may write a letter to CPC-M and let them know that you are withdrawing your sponsorship.
Write the name, date of birth and file number.
Here is the address:
Case Processing Centre - Mississauga
P.O. Box 3000, Station A
Mississauga ON L5A 4N6
You could withdraw the sponsorship but if you did without saying why, it would raise questions when you try to sponsor him again. In my opinion, you should write a letter to CPO where the file is now and explain the situation and ask for solutions. Name as an option that they delay his visa and allow him to get new medicals. Another option that you withdraw sponsorship at this time to sponsor him later. That leaves it up to Ottawa to make the decision on what they are willing to do for you. If you are forced to withdraw sponsorship, when you are ready to sponsor him again, immigration will have a record of why you had to cancel it the first time and will not think it was because of marital problems between you.
