I am a new immigrant in Quebec. I am a licensed Junior Engineer in the province. I am looking for embedded software engineering, communications engineering/ networks, IT jobs or executive management positions. My only requirement is that the job needs to pay $80,000 and above. Is this salary attainable in Quebec with 2-3 years of experience?
The most important question is whether you have:
1) Canadian work experience as an Engineer
2) Whether you have at least (minimum) 5 to 6 years of full time experience in your specialization in Canada
3) Are you fluent in French (for Quebec only)
If these three criteria are met then YES you have a very good chance otherwise NO
I am not sure about Quebec salaries but either ways if you dont have Canadian work experience it will be very very hard to get a job in your field. I also noticed you mentioned you are a licensed junior Engineer in the province but your work experience is in IT but not in Canada this will also be a challenge. You can try to apply for jobs in Alberta and Quebec your French will definitely be looked upon favorably.
Just to share my story , I came here on 6 fig income last June. Initially came as DB/IT analyst and now became a development manager. I did not have any Canadian experience or any kind of PR or WP. I had 6 years of US and 9 years of Singapore experience. my Employer did WP for me and then I moved to Montreal. Hope this helps.
