Hi, i know there is various talk about this but i just after info specific to my situation if anyone can help.

Im British passport holder going through the check list for the London office, im applying for Skilled Worker...okay so ive got a bunch of original documents (birth certificate, degree, diploma, proof of savings, passports), its asking for "notarized copies".

Is this defined somewhere, what exactly does this mean i have to do? Can i get, for example, a university lecturer that i know to notarise my copies? Or is it a more official procedure if so who and where does this process.

many thanks, all help appreciated!

Go to the GUIDE and it will give you all the information you require to fill out the application....here it is. Good Luck!

Certified copies or notarized documentsTo have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:

•“I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”
•the name of the original document
•the date of the certification
•his or her name
•his or her official position or title
•his or her signature

Who can certify copies?People authorized to certify copies include the following:

In Canada:

•a commissioner of oaths
•a notary public
•a justice of the peace
Outside Canada:

•a judge
•a magistrate
•a notary public
•an officer of a court of justice
•a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is living

further to this does anyone know the following...

I know a local magistrate that can notorise my copies, does he just have to sign and say "true copy" or is there any thing else that is involved, does he need to identify himself with name address etc?

Also ive spoken to a local "Notary Public" and he asked if the documents are "apostile" or "leglisation" or "otherwise". Also he asked if the documents need to go to the FCO (Foreign Commonwealth Office). Also does this apply to the Magistrate?

Can anyone elaborate on these? Any help would be much appreciated...!

Hi Brettwest,

Dont Panic !!!

Which country are you from??

As far as notarization is concerned : Photocopy all you certificates, experience letters, any supporting documents, take them to the Notary Officer - they know the procedure.
