I really need help on this.
I filed the sponsorship application to sponsor my husband from Iraq in 2015 March. It has been two years and it seems loke forever.
My husband graduted from University in 2015 june. He has been unemployed since then . The embassy asked for an update we told them he graduated and he has been unemployed since then. Could that be why the application is taking forever? Does unemployment of sponsored spoise affect the applocation? I am also unalyed since i am a mother of 3 kids .
Anyone here faced something similar or know something about this?

The applicant being unemployed does not matter. When the sponsor is unemployed, the visa officer will look at the situation. They want some assurance that the couple will be able to support themselves once the applicant becomes a PR. So some people who are unemployed include a letter detailing their plans for their life together in Canada: where they will apply for jobs, what kind of job they hope to get, any savings they have, any support they will receive from relatives or friends, etc.

I have included a job offer letter and my family said they will support us in the beggining so why is it taking forever?

Security and background checks for someone from Iraq will take longer than the average. It must be almost done, however, since you have been waiting almost two years.

But my friend sponsored her husband from iraq too and within 5 months he got his visa. I understand that every case is different but i mean like what is two years and what is 5 months!!
