My bf applied to extend his work permit in January of 2024 and listed me as a common law spouse. the application was approved in May but we had broken up in April and he did not notify IRCC of the change in marital status.
His permit expired in November of last year and he applied for a visitor record. He did list that he was in a previous common law relationship and included the separation date. The visitor record was approved.
we are in a common law relationship again and I’m worried that him not informing IRCC of the change in marital status during his work permit extension will be a problem.
he did state it in the visitor record extension but can someone chime in please??? We submitted the application for spousal sponsorship yesterday.
Not sure if this is relevant but I’m a permanent resident and our cohabitation has been in Canada only.

I don't think so. He's not going to sponsor you and you don't need a work permit from him. So I don't see that there's a way for this to be considered material. I don't pretend to be an expert on the work permit aspect or requirements though.
If anyone has any other information, then hope they'll share.
