I am applying for a temporary work permit and accompanying my wife and two kids, one would enter school.
I have this question Why is your family member visiting Canada?
possible answers are
- Visit - Tourism
- Visit - All other types
- Less than 6 months studies
- Study more than 6 months
- Work in a work permit exempted category
- Work LMIA
- Work with open work permit
- Transit
Should I pick Visit all other types for the wife and little baby and study for more 6 months for the older kid?
Yes. SOWP doesn’t require someone to work. A TRV is often denied for spouses because they aren’t a temporary visitor. TRV is accepted for children attending elementary and high school. There are some visa officers who ask to apply for a study permit but if you read the application information a TRV is supposed to be fine for children.
Hi, I got the same problem. I am applying for a work permit because I have a postdoctoral job offer. My husband and my two dependent children will accompany me. When I add my husband, for the following question
"Why is your family member visiting Canada?"
I choose
"Work with an Open Work Permit"
and the questionnaire will continue. But next, when I add my first dependent kid for the answer to the above question I choose
"Visit - All other types"
and then it continues with the following question
"Does your family member want to apply for a Parent and Grandparent Supervisa?"
which I answer
"No"
and finally, it gives this message
"Based on your answers, your family member does not need a visa to transit or visit Canada.
If you wish to continue with your application, please modify your previously answered questions."
I do not know how to apply for my dependent children online together with my application. What would be the problem? Could you please help me with this? Thanks
