My partner (the sponsor) and I (Principal) are planning to apply next year for conjugal application. I just need to know the following:
1. about the letter of support, the friend of my partner is based in Singapore and we chose her as one to write the letter. The question is, the letter should be notarized, right? Does she need to have the letter notarized in Singapore or she can just send the letter to us and my partner & I would be the one to have it notarized?
2. About the question in imm5532: Do you have relatives in Canada - I do have relatives in Canada- aunt, cousins, etc. I want to know if it's mandatory to fill those up? I don't actually know why IRCC needs it. Is it part of a background check?

If the letter of support is just "we know them" and it is in english or french should not need to be notarised. Provide contact info though just in case.
Don't know whether mandatory for other relatives, but why would you not include it? Won't hurt your case. Just tell the truth. Even better if they can also provide basic support letter (we know them etc) but not required.

I see.. I thought it if it's a conjugal partner sponsorship, the letter needs to be notarized. Thank you.
Yeah, I told my partner to include my relatives as it's really the truth anyway. We won't be able to provide letters from them though, my partner is in Quebec, and my relatives are all in Ontario, and Alberta. Thank you so much for the help.
